The product was described as accomodating Sony video cameras. Well, I couldn’t begin to pack my Model DCR-TRV480 into the opening. I’ll be returning the item for full refund. Caveat emptor when buying a supposedly compatible accessory without SPECIFICations!
I bought this underwater case because it was the cheapest one that i could find. I’ve been using it to film surfers out in the water. Overall it does what it says but it’s very low quality and there are several issues.
1. it’s very difficult to operate the camera through the plastic
2. if you look at the housing you will notice that there is a lens window area. this frustrating because often times the ring will block most of the shot. you have to constantly adjust where your camera is within the housing to avoid this.
3. the seal itself is not very reliable, the velcro comes apart very easily.
4. the handle is positioned in such a way that if you grasp many cameras you will have to try really hard to keep your fingers out of the way of the lens
5. in warm water like hawaii’s condensation will build up within the case, it helps to put the camera in the case in an air conditioned environment or to put a silica pack in with the camera
6. the material just doesn’t feel solid and can sometimes cause unwanted reflections in your shot
Like i said it is very cheap, but i wouldn’t really trust a state of the art camera in a bag like this(not that there are any state of the art cameras that fit in here). it’s good because if you lose it out in the surf you won’t be so devastated…
